Weymouth 2 Speedway

Wessex Stadium (2), Radipole Lane, Weymouth.

Weymouth (1) qualifies as a defunct track because the original circuit has been built on and a new circuit (Weymouth 2) was laid nearby in 2003 within the original stadium complex. Hence the new track address being the same as the older circuit.  Weymouth (2) is currently defunct too. Hopefully the sport will come back to Weymouth.

Weymouth (1) operated between 1954 and 1985.

Weymouth (2) started it's campaign in 2003 and it is this 2nd period we are concerned with here.

A faint outline of the speedway track is shown above the football pitch.

Steve Burton says: Hi John. here are a couple of pics I took earlier this year of what Weymouth speedway looks like now. The first is what it looks like standing on the first bend! & the third photo is the entrance to what was the track (now a scrapyard) There is also a current google maps picture from above!
