This fixture was raced in the second half of the Glasgow Tigers v Peterborough Panthers National League match.
Longstone Lions were one of two SJL teams affiliated to Edinburgh Monarchs in 1982, Young Edinburgh being the other.

Incidentally this would prove to be Jim's last full race of his long career. In his next outing in Heat 8 he collided with Bernie Collier coming out the second bend and was thrown over the handlebars and onto the track with considerable force. It resulted in a broken neck, thankfully after a long stay in hospital he recovered fully but never rode again.
